Toowong is a suburb of Brisbane, Australia. As such, it has some very nice old fashioned Queenslander homes. But you would not know that from looking at the towers of downtown Toowong Village. I will get some pictures of the wonderful houses later.

And they're off!
Here’s the start of the Melbourne Cup on one of the many TVs at the pub in the Regatta Hotel.
Cup Day!
I didn’t realize that I was arriving on Melbourne Cup day! This is the day that Australia pauses to watch the famous race at Flemington racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria. Office workers bring in a TV and pause to watch the race. People dress up and go out to lunch and watch the race. We rushed down to the local pub to watch the people watching the race.
Waiting for a plane
I flew from San Francisco to Aukland, New Zealand, before continuing on to Brisbane, Australia. This layover gives a needed break in a long flight. Actually, each time it seems to take less time. Or maybe I have learned to sleep sitting up.
